Tony is a descendant of the Girramay, Yidinji and Kuku Yalanji peoples and is one of the most exciting contemporary artists in Australia. Through a mix of humour and poignancy, Albert tackles issues of race and representation by recontextualising objects of ‘Aboriginalia’; kitsch items featuring caricatured depictions of Aboriginal people and their culture. In this episode Tony shares why there are no boundaries between art and life in Aboriginal culture; how art can give people a voice in the world; and that no-one is good or bad at art as long as they have a story to tell.
